Thiago Hattnher (1990, São Paulo) Lives and works in São Paulo.
Hattnher's research revolves around pictorial experimentation on various media and supports such as canvas, linen, cotton and wood. His work seeks to escape the premise of a linear or self-contained narrative, expanding the figurative construction to an imaginary of multiple semantic developments. Starting from a compositional logic similar to a collage, in which different images are added and brought together on the surface of the canvas, the reading of each painting oscillates in relation to its subject: in an instant the depicted landscape rises to the surface and takes on a leading role; and in another the painting itself and its facture is presented as a theme. This proximity between several images coexisting in the same space ends up delaying the reading time of the work, since each screen houses several autonomous images. This slowness also, in addition to manifesting itself formally, echoes the subjects represented in each painting: still lifes, flowers and landscapes. His paintings start from carefully constructed compositions, although little planned, through a restive process of corrections, alterations and overlays, often revealing gaps in the apparent continuity of perception.
