Lux Miranda
The title refers to the last fall equinox that led the artist to an observation of nature; at this period, nature is renewing itself, flowers are blossoming, animals breed and days become longer than nights. It seems that the colours were chosen to illustrate the idea that light overcomes darkness at that time. The use of the snake pattern refers to its sexual symbolism and a new cycle giving birth to multiple living beings.
A few days before the installation of her exhibition, the artist visited Sainte Sophie mosque which convinced her to invite the visitors to walk on the rug after they removed their shoes, a really symbolic gesture inviting the people to put their ego aside in order to penetrate the space with humbleness.
The experience of walking on the rug creates a physical link with the visitors who are welcomed by it through the physical sensations promulgated by the wool through their feet spreading to the rest of the body, like if they were walking on clouds.
Furthermore, the wool has physical characteristics such as the absorption of sounds and light, reflecting it in a powdery and very intense way almost like pigments. The way in which the light is absorbed and then refracted by the material accompanies and accentuates the movements of the mind when viewing the artwork.
